  1. The North American car is designed and used for 
  2. privacy. Unlike the European car, it is a big enclosed 
  3. space, well suited to the business of meditation and 
  4. decision-making. Almost as much as TV, the car 
  5. demands peripheral vision which undermines the 
  6. ‚Äútunnel vision‚Äù needed for reading. The motor car, 
  7. then, for us is not only a means of transportation, 
  8. but a way of achieving a deeply needed privacy 
  9. when outside.

  11. It goes without saying that there is very little privacy 
  12. in the North American home because we do not seek it 
  13. there but, rather, outside in our cars. An unexpected
